Stance on alliance

Shortly after taking charge, Purandeswari launched a broadside against the YSRCP government in the state.

She, however, dodged questions about a BJP alliance with the TDP, stating that the central leadership would decide about it.

She also noted that the mandate given to the state leadership was to strengthen the party.

Talking to reporters after taking charge as the state unit president, Purandeswari reiterated that the Jana Sena was an ally yesterday, and would continue as an ally of the BJP.

Both the BJP and the Jana Sena would work together, she said.

Attack on YSRCP

Purandeswari also seized the opportunity to shed light on the alleged shortcomings and inadequacies that have plagued the YSRCP government for far too long.

She came down heavily on the government of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for the crumbling road infrastructure of Andhra Pradesh.

She highlighted that, despite generous funding from the Union government, not a single road has been constructed in the state.

Purandeswari also pointed to the staggering allocation of 22 lakh houses exclusively for the state of Andhra Pradesh.

“However 35 percent of these remarkable constructions have been left incomplete, leaving us all to ponder the true extent of the state government’s dedication to the well-being of the underprivileged,” she said.

She also said that the Union government had done more than the Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.

She highlighted the construction of central premier educational institutes like IITs and IIMs in Andhra Pradesh and airports just after the state bifurcation, as promised in the Reorganisation Act.

She stressed that the state government miserably failed in constructing the prestigious Polavaram project despite corporation from the Union government.

The former Union minister added that the Central government had made the lion’s share of contribution to the state’s welfare to the poor, including the constriction of village and ward secretariats.

She also said that, in the coming days, party cadre would explain to the people of Andhra Pradesh the good done by the Central government to Andhra Pradesh and also the misgovernance of the YSRCP government.
