Pawan's outburst at Anita: Is he advising her or using her as a device to drive his plot?
Reaching God was not easy for Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan; the actor-turned-politician suffered breathlessness and back pain as he ascended the 3,500 steps and reached Tirumala Shrine on Tuesday, 1 October, to end his prayschitta (repentance) deeksha for the “sins” of the previous YSRCP government which, according to him, allowed acts of sacrilege, mainly adulteration of laddu prasadam.
The actor, who is known as a power star, experienced intense breathlessness and back pain at one point, forcing him to halt for a while.
The videos that his fans posted on social media made him look very weak and unable to move forward. He was seen leaning against the railing and slaking his thirst from a water bottle offered to him by his entourage.
Pawan Kalyan donned the avatar of a spiritual guru after Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu set off a storm on 18 September by saying that Tirumala laddus were made with ghee which had animal fat in it at a function organised to mark the TDP-led NDA’s 100 days in office.
Lambasting the previous YSRCP government, he said there was an urgent need for protecting Sanatana dharma and began espousing its cause.
He went on an 11-day prayaschitta deeksha, and when the Supreme Court said there was no evidence that the ghee used in making laddus had adulterants, he subtly shifted his focus from laddu to other acts of sacrilege on the temple.
