Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy has alleged a huge conspiracy behind the CBI’s investigation into the murder of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy, popularly known as Viveka.

Reddy, on Friday, 10 March, was questioned by the CBI for the third time in as many months as part of its ongoing investigation into the 2019 murder of Viveka, the paternal under of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

On Friday, the YSRCP MP was grilled by the CBI for almost four hours.

Avinash Reddy’s questioning on Friday had gained significance as he moved a lunch motion in the Telangana High Court on Thursday seeking a direction to CBI not to take any coercive action against him.

‘I’m being falsely implicated’

After appearing before the CBI, Avinash Reddy told reporters that he is being falsely implicated in the murder case and there is a conspiracy behind the central probe agency’s investigation.

He added that he had to approach the court as there was no response from the CBI to his request that his interrogation be video-recorded.

“There is a conspiracy behind the CBI going ahead with the investigation. They are picking silly issues while ignoring important aspects and elements related to the case,” he told the media after emerging from the questioning o Friday.

“I’m ready to go to any extent in my legal fight to safeguard my rights. I’m being falsely implicated in the case. False evidence is being created to mislead the case,” he contended.

‘CBI ignoring facts’

Avinash Reddy also said that there is no truth behind the narrative that Vivekananda Reddy, who was the brother of erstwhile Congress strongman YS Rajashekar Reddy, was killed for the Kadapa MP ticket.

He said even one day before his murder, Viveka had campaigned in Chapadu mandal of Myadakuru seeking votes for him as Kadapa MP.

“They are recording only those statements that subscribe to their conspiracy, ignoring other facts and evidence,” Avinash Reddy said.

“Vivekananda Reddy had an affair with a woman since 2006 and probably he married her around 2011. To marry her, Viveka also changed his name to Sheik Mohammed Akbar as per Muslim law. They both have a boy named Sheik Shehansha. Viveka was supposed to announce Shehanshah as his political heir,” the YSRCP MP alleged, suggesting a motive for the murder.

Avinash Reddy also said that he never propagated the theory that Vivekananda Reddy died due to a heart attack as claimed by the CBI. He said that he went to the crime spot on that day only after he was informed by Viveka’s family members.
