Synopsis: Nara Lokesh, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Human Resources and IT, laid the foundation stone for a ₹135 crore Integrated Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) Plant by Reliance New Energy in Prakasam district on April 2. Lokesh emphasized the NDA government’s commitment to job creation and development, while criticizing the YSRCP for driving away investors during their tenure.

The NDA government in Andhra Pradesh has grounded a significant industrial project in the backward Prakasam district.

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Human Resources and IT, Nara Lokesh, laid the foundation stone for an Integrated Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) Plant, being set up by Reliance New Energy near Divakarapalli village in P.C. Palli Mandal, Kanigiri constituency, on Wednesday, 2 April.

Reliance Industries Director PMS Prasad, Reliance Industries Limited AP & TS Mentor P V L Madhava Rao, and Reliance Bioenergy CEO Harindra K Tripathi participated in the groundbreaking ceremony along with Lokesh.

Speaking on the occasion, Lokesh recalled the days of his Yuva Galam Padayatra across Prakasam district and how the people had supported the TDP. In the last election, they elected the TDP in all the 10 constituencies. Even in 2019, when the TDP faced headwinds, the people elected the party candidates from four seats, he said.

The minister said that the NDA government, after taking over the reins in the state in 2023, has begun in right earnest fulfilling the promises it had made to the people. Laying the foundation stone for the CBG plant is one, he said, and asserted that the state government was committed to providing 20 lakh jobs to the youth in the next five years. “After the NDA took over, so far we have secured investments worth about ₹8 lakh crore,” he said.

Lokesh takes a dig at YSRCP

The minister did not forget to take a swipe at the YSRCP for driving away the investors who did not give its leaders a share in their profits. The YSRCP did not bring in even one investor in its five-year term, he said, adding that the NDA was now trying to reverse the destructive trend that the YSRCP had set off in the state when it was in power.

Spanning 475 acres, this state-of-the-art CBG plant is being established with an investment of ₹139 crore and a production capacity of 100 tonnes. This project is the first of Reliance’s 500 CBG plants across the state, marking the first milestone in this ambitious plan.

Reliance Industries is investing a total of ₹65,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh, which is expected to generate employment and livelihood opportunities for approximately 2.5 lakh youth. The company is also setting up four CBG hubs across India, with one of them strategically located in Prakasam district.

On arrival at the plant site, the Minister was warmly welcomed by the coalition government’s representatives, TDP leaders, and party workers. Acknowledging the enthusiastic reception, he greeted them and those who attended the event as he made his way to the venue.

Those who took part in the event included Ministers Gottipati Ravi Kumar and Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, Chief Secretary K Vijayanand, District Collector A Thameem Ansari, among others.
