Synopsis: Jana Sena Party, led by Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, passed a resolution demanding an Assembly debate on alleged adulteration of ghee used in Tirumala laddus during the YSRCP regime. Citing SIT and NDDB reports, Kalyan accused suppliers of using synthetic ghee from animal fat, causing sacrilege and financial loss. The party also praised the Union Budget 2026–27.
The Jana Sena Party on Monday, 2 February, adopted a resolution seeking a detailed discussion in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly on the alleged use of “chemicals extracted from animal fat” in making synthetic ghee and using it in the preparation of Tirumala Srivari Laddu Prasadam during the previous YSRCP government’s tenure.
The resolution was passed unanimously at the Jana Sena Party General Body meeting held in Mangalagiri, chaired by party President and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. The party alleged that ghee supplied to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) during the YSRCP regime was not genuine cow ghee, but a synthetic product manufactured using chemicals, including chemicals from animal fat, causing deep hurt to the religious sentiments of millions of devotees.
Addressing the meeting, Pawan Kalyan said the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the laddu row clearly established that the ghee used for laddu preparation was “not real ghee”. He alleged that dairy firms that supplied ghee to TTD neither possessed cows nor had records of milk or butter procurement, yet supplied nearly 60 lakh kilograms of ghee.
“Without cows, milk or butter, how was ghee produced? Even scientists cannot create ghee without these basic ingredients. But the YSRCP government managed to do it,” he remarked, alleging large-scale adulteration.
The Jana Sena leader said the SIT report did not categorically state that animal fat was absent, contrary to the claims made by YSRCP leaders. He further claimed that scientists have established that the “chemicals used in manufacturing synthetic ghee originate from animal fat.”
Pawan Kalyan also questioned the pricing of the ghee procured for laddu preparation. “When even good-quality sesame oil is not available for ₹400 per kg, how did they procure cow ghee at such a low price? Every drop of that ghee was adulterated,” he alleged.
The resolution claimed that around 20 crore laddus were prepared using the allegedly adulterated ghee and sold to devotees, terming it a “grave sacrilege” and accusing the previous government of looting nearly ₹233 crore from Srivari funds by opening the doors for procurement of adulterated ghee.

The Jana Sena Party demanded that the “full facts” emerging from the SIT investigation be made public and discussed on the floor of the Assembly to counter what it described as a “false propaganda” by the YSRCP. The party resolved to take the findings of the investigation to the people to expose what it termed as one of the most serious religious and ethical violations in recent times.
Referring to the issue, Pawan Kalyan said the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had earlier disclosed details of the alleged adulteration based on a report submitted by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). He recalled that he himself undertook a penance as an act of atonement, stating that remaining silent when a wrongdoing occurs on Tirumala hill was unacceptable.
The Jana Sena chief also linked the controversy to a broader need for protecting religious institutions and called for serious deliberations on setting up a Sanatana Dharma Protection Board.
In a strong attack on the YSRCP leadership, Pawan Kalyan said irresponsible and violent rhetoric by Opposition leaders was contributing to a climate of fear and sporadic attacks. “No political party can justify violence. Even the Chief Minister has repeatedly said that no one should take the law into their hands,” he said.
He asserted that Jana Sena was not a party confined to any caste or family and called upon leaders to work beyond social divisions. He announced that women would be given greater representation in party committees and said constituency-level party posts would be filled through democratic elections. A pilot exercise has already been completed in Pithapuram constituency, he added.
The party also announced the formation of a 32-member disciplinary committee to strengthen internal accountability, with Pawan Kalyan initially heading the committee. One-third of its membership would be rotated periodically, he said.
Separately, the General Body meeting adopted another resolution congratulating the Union government on the 2026–27 Union Budget, stating that it was in line with the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047”. The party praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting what it described as a growth-oriented budget aimed at strengthening India’s economic foundations.
The meeting was attended by Jana Sena MPs, MLAs, MLCs, party office-bearers, corporation chairpersons, regional coordinators of Veera Mahila wings and spokespersons.
