Characterising the TDP and other political adversaries as wolves, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy warned them that he would single-handedly thwart their attempts to denigrate the YSRCP government — like a lion — with the support of the people.

Addressing a huge public meeting in Vinukonda of the Palnadu district on Monday, 30 January, he came down heavily on TDP and its friendly media for the alleged false propaganda against the government and misleading of the people.

Observing that the TDP and its political ally Jana Sena were coming together as wolves with the support of their friendly media for political gains, he asserted that he would take on them like a lion.

All sections of society including SCs, STs, BCs and Minorities are backing YSRCP and people are the backbone of his party, he said, making it clear that YSRCP doesn’t fear the wolves parading together.

He said that the state was witnessing not a caste war but a class war between the pro-poor YSRCP government and political backstabbers and hypocrites enjoying the support of the capitalists.

He warned that he would take on the “Gang of Four” that looted the state lock, stock and barrel during the TDP rule and Chandrababu Naidu’s foster son who has no guts and wits to question the robbers.

He called upon people to choose between the YSRCP — which he said stands by its commitment and is implementing its election manifesto in letter and spirit — and political hypocrites led by the TDP, which he said pursued a policy of plunder, stash, and devour, like robbers.

Instead of questioning the TDP which looted and cheated every section of the society during its rule, the “foster son” — an oblique reference to Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan — has been supporting them for selfish reasons, he remarked, adding that people were aware of the cunningness and ulterior designs of the political thieves.

Asking the people not to be misled by the propaganda of political adversaries, Jagan appealed to them to stand by the YSRCP.

CM releases ₹330 crore under Jagananna Chedodu

On the occasion, Jagan released ₹330.15 crore under the “Jagananna Chedodu” scheme towards its beneficiaries. The amount will be directly credited to their bank accounts.

Releasing the amount with the click of a button on Monday, the chief minister said the slew of welfare measures implemented by the YSRCP government had been empowering every BC, SC, and ST family, and helping them to improve financially.

He said that the government was striving to implement the scheme without giving room for discrimination on grounds of caste, religion, community, or party affiliation and without giving scope for favouritism or corruption.

The state has registered a growth rate of 11.43 percent turning it into a model state for the entire country, he said.

While the total amount disbursed to the people through DBT under various welfare schemes reached ₹1,92,938 crore, it equals ₹3 lakh crore when benefits given to people under non-DBT schemes are included, he claimed.

The chief minister said that 30 lakh house site pattas were distributed to women and the support extended to women’s self-help groups turned their societies to A grade from C and D grades.

He said that nearly 1 crore families are receiving benefits through various welfare measures of the government that included input subsidy payment in the same season for crop loss, zero percent interest scheme, YSR Asara, Vahana Mitra, Kapu Nestam, and EBC Nestam.

In response to the appeals of the local MLA Brahma Naidu, he sanctioned ₹12 crore for implementing a drinking water scheme to benefit 12 villages in the Gollapally Mandal and ₹15crore for upgrading the local 50-bed hospital into a 100-bedded hospital.

He also accepted the request of the MLA to establish a college in the Palnadu district to cater to the needs of minorities.

With Monday’s disbursal that would net the beneficiaries ₹10,000 each, the total financial assistance provided so far under Jagananna Chedodu has reached ₹927. 39 crore, benefitting ₹30,000 each.

On individual count, 47,533 Nayee Brahmins, 1,14, 661 Rajakas, and 1,67,951 tailors would benefit to the tune of ₹47.53 crore, ₹114.67 crore, and ₹167.95 crore, respectively, from the scheme being.
