Hyderabad farmhouse raid: Police recover cocaine and revolver; say accused fired shot
Police said that when the EAGLE team surrounded the farmhouse and announced its presence, one gunshot was fired from inside the premises towards the officers.

Synopsis: Telangana Police seized 0.26 grams of cocaine, a .32 calibre revolver and large quantities of liquor during a raid on a party at a farmhouse owned by former BRS MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy near Hyderabad on Saturday night. Eleven people, including Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar Yadav and Rohith Reddy, were detained on suspicion of consuming narcotics, and six of them tested positive. Police said a gunshot was fired from inside the farmhouse as officers surrounded the premises.
Telangana Police on Sunday, 15 March said they seized 0.26 grams of cocaine, a .32 calibre revolver and large quantities of liquor, including beer, whisky and vodka of various premium brands, during a raid on a party at a farmhouse belonging to former BRS MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Saturday night.
Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar Yadav and Rohith Reddy were among 11 people detained during the raid on suspicion of consuming narcotics. Both Yadav and Reddy, along with four others, tested positive for drugs. Yadav was later granted station bail in connection with the case.
Namith Sharma, Panjugula Ritesh Reddy, Koushik Ravi and Tiruveedula Arjun Reddy also tested positive for drugs.
The others detained were Nallapaneni Vijaya Krishna, Varamacheni Sravan Kumar, Moravneni Ramesh, Priyanka and Silveri Sharath Kumar.
Police said the raid was conducted “based on credible intelligence, sustained surveillance and community input.”
The operation was carried out by the Cyberabad Narcotics Police Station (CNPS) of the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE), in coordination with Moinabad police and special operations teams from Shamshabad and Chevella.
A case has been registered at Moinabad police station under Sections 8(c), 22(A), 27 and 29 of the NDPS Act; Sections 25(1-B)(a) and 30 of the Arms Act; Section 34(a) of the Telangana State Excise Act; and Sections 109 and 131 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Police said that when the EAGLE team surrounded the farmhouse and announced its presence, one gunshot was fired from inside the premises towards the officers.
The team again identified itself and warned the occupants, after which the firing stopped. Officers then entered the premises and detained all those present.
During the operation, officers found one person near a washroom holding a revolver and immediately took him into custody along with the weapon. Another individual nearby was holding empty cartridge cases.
Investigators identified them as Namith Sharma and Silveri Sharath Kumar. Officers seized the revolver, said to be made in Germany, along with one live cartridge and four empty cartridge cases. Gunshot residue samples were collected from the suspects for forensic examination.
A search of the premises led to the recovery of 0.26 grams of cocaine from Sharath Kumar, according to Police. During questioning, he disclosed that the drug had been procured through Kaushik Ravi.
