Synopsis: Murram Shivani, a student of the Zilla Parishad High School in Rampachodavaram, was found dead on Monday, 27 July, at her grandmother’s residence in Eerlapalli village, Polavaram district. She reportedly took the extreme step on the night of 26 July, Sunday.
A tenth-grade student, who had drawn public attention just days earlier for addressing a state-level event alongside Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has died by suicide.
Murram Shivani, a student of the Zilla Parishad High School in Rampachodavaram, was found dead on Monday, 27 July, at her grandmother’s residence in Eerlapalli village, Polavaram district. She reportedly took the extreme step on the night of 26 July, Sunday.
She left a handwritten note in which she apologised to her parents for not living up to their expectations. Investigators have not yet established a clear motive. Police have registered and are investigating.
Shivani’s parents are separated, and she had been living with her mother and grandmother in Eerlapalli while pursuing her studies at the Rampachodavaram school.

Just two days before her death, Shivani had shared the dais with Chief Minister Naidu during a Mega Parent Teacher Meeting (MPTM) held in Rampachodavaram on 24 July. She spoke to the gathering about her academic ambitions and received appreciation from the attendees.
Speaking to the chief minister, the girl said that she would definitely receive an award from him one day.
On learning about Shivani’s death, Naidu directed officials to carry out a comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances of her alleged suicide.
He took to social media platform X to express sorrow over her death, describing it as deeply distressing news.
He called it heartbreaking that a talented young woman from a tribal community should lose her life before those ambitions could be realised. He added that whatever the underlying reasons, her death before fulfilling her dreams was something he found deeply troubling.
He also used the post to encourage young people to share their struggles with family, friends, and loved ones rather than facing them alone.
Local police have taken up a formal investigation into the death. Further details on the circumstances leading up to the incident are awaited as the inquiry is ongoing.
