Aiming to enhance the quality of raw materials that are used in making Prasadams and Annaprasadams at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), its Executive Officer on Monday, 15 July decided to take the assistance of the Food Safety and Security Authority of India (FSSAI) in the procurement.
The EO, J Syamala Rao also conducted a review meeting with the Joint Electoral Officials (JEOs) – Goutami, Veerabrahmam, and authorities from FSSAI – in the EO’s chamber of TTD’s Administrative Building in Tirupati in the evening of 15 July.
During the meeting, the EO directed the Tirupati JEO to make necessary arrangements so that the FSSAI can establish a dedicated Lab in Tirumala to check the ingredients and raw materials that are being used in the preparation of Prasadams, Annaprasadams, and also the purity of Jala Prasadam in a scientific manner.
He said that the FSSAI will help not only in checking the quality of the raw materials but also in procuring the best materials at a reduced price.
The EO also said the rules and norms prescribed by FSSAI should be followed while inviting tenders for procurement of raw materials. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) will also be prepared for the procurement process.
Director of Food Safety of Andhra Pradesh, Purnachandra Rao has also submitted certain recommendations on food and water safety measures.
