Tirupati district collector distributed pensions.

In a move underscoring the Andhra Pradesh government’s commitment to welfare delivery at the grassroots, District Collector Dr S Venkateswar personally distributed pensions under the NTR Bharosa Social Security Pension Scheme in Oteru gram panchayat in rural Tirupati on Tuesday, 1 July.

Visiting several homes early in the morning, the district collector ensured pensions reached eligible beneficiaries at their doorsteps — a model he urged Secretariat staff to follow consistently each month. “The government’s goal is to serve the poor with dignity. Staff should deliver pensions directly and on time,” he said.

This month, 2,59,732 pensioners across the district are receiving ₹111.45 crore in total disbursement. During his visit, the Collector interacted with recipients, including Nandu Munemma (old age pension) and Eswari Subramaniam (widow pension), who expressed satisfaction with the doorstep service.

Officials accompanying the Collector included DRDA PD Shobhan Babu, MPDO Ramachandra, and Secretariat staff. The district collector highlighted that the pension amount in Andhra Pradesh has been significantly enhanced under the leadership of the chief minister, making it one of the most generous in the country.
