Synopsis: Former minister and YSRCP leader Jogi Ramesh and his family is facing dowry harassment allegations from his daughter in law Meghana. In her complaint, Meghana alleged that she has been facing mental and physical harassment demadning additional dowry from her husband’s family since the wedding. The police have registered a case and investigation is underway.
Former Andhra Pradesh minister and senior YSRCP leader Jogi Ramesh and several of his relatives are facing legal action after his daughter-in-law lodged a domestic violence complaint against them.
The complaint was filed by Meghana, who is married to Jogi Ramesh’s son, Rajeev.
In her statement to police, Meghana alleged that she has been facing mental and physical harassment from her husband’s family since the wedding. According to her, the harassements were centered on demands for additional dowry payments. She claimed that other members of the household were aware of, and actively supported the alleged mistreatment.
Meghana alleged that the harassments continued and even intensified despite multiple attempts at mediation in the presence of elders. She said she had to approach the police fearing for her life.

Acting on her complaint, police at the Ibrahimpatnam station in NTR district registered a case naming 11 members of the Jogi family, including Ramesh, his wife Jogi Shakuntala and son Jogi Rajeev. Ramesh’s brother Jogi Ramu, his sons Pandu and Rakesh are among the other accused in the case.
The case has been registered under sections 85, 318, 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, related to to domestic cruelty, dowry harassment and cheating.
Investigators have begun looking into the allegations and have already recorded an initial statement from Meghana.
Police are expected to issue formal notices to the accused family members, summoning them for questioning as the probe continues.
