People air grievance with Chittoor Collector

At the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) meet held on 7 July at the Chittoor District Secretariat, District Collector Sumit Kumar received a range of petitions highlighting pressing local issues.

Among them was P Gunasundari from Vedurukuppam Mandal, a differently-abled woman who sought an increased pension of ₹15,000 and a battery-operated tricycle. The Collector directed officials from DRDA and the Differently Abled Welfare Department to take immediate steps.

Land-related grievances also came to the fore. Villagers from Mangunta requested a land survey and auction through the Endowments Department, while a woman from Penumuru reported encroachment on government land adjacent to her property.

In Pullur village of Airala Mandal, residents voiced concerns over the sudden removal of a fair-price shop that once served 317 ration card holders. The shift to SHG-led distribution in a nearby village left many unaware and without essential supplies. The Collector ordered a probe into the issue.

Another plea came from Punganur, where long-time residents living on temple land sought regularisation of their homes.

In all cases, the Collector issued firm instructions to the respective mandal tahsildars and officials to investigate and take appropriate action.
