Chandrababu Naidu ranks himself sixth in file clearance, honours minority welfare minister

Synopsis : Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu ranked his ministers on file clearance, giving top honours to Minority Welfare Minister N M D Farooq and ranking himself sixth. He emphasised the importance of timely file clearance in improving government efficiency and urged ministers to reduce pendency. Naidu also expressed concern over ministers with fewer files lagging in their clearance during the cabinet meeting on 6 February.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has given rankings to his ministers, including himself, in clearing the files.

He gave top honours to Minority Welfare Minister NMD Farooq, but ranked himself sixth.

In the order from top to bottom, Information Technology Minister Nara Lokesh was ranked eight and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan was further down at 10. The lowest rank of 25 went to Labour Minister Vasamsetty Subhash.

The chief minister, after the official business at the cabinet meeting held at Velagapudi in Amravati on Thursday, 6 February, dwelt at length on the performance of each minister during the last six months.

The metric that was used to gauge their performance was clearance of files. He said that it was time for the ministers to pull  up socks and get down to working to improve the image of the party and the government. He wanted the ministers to clear the files with least pendency, as it reflects on the efficiency of the government. He wondered why some ministers, who had fewer number files to deal with, were lagging in clearing them.

Other key decisions of the cabinet

The cabinet took note that major corporate giants have signed agreements for setting up 34 projects, valued at ₹6,78,345 crore, which will create employment opportunities for 4,28,705 people.

The cabinet approved the recommendations made during the meeting of the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) held on 30 January, to provide incentives to companies such as Coromandel International Limited, ELP, and EMC (Kopparti).

Coromandel International Limited has committed an investment of ₹1539 crore and will create job opportunities for 750 people.

ELIP has been allocated 31.77 acres in Koduru village, Anakapalli district, instead of their previous allocation in Balabhadrapuram, East Godavari district, bringing in ₹305 crore in investment and 6,000 job opportunities.

The Cabinet approved proposals regarding the balance of housing works in the R&R colonies under the Polavaram Project and decided to speed up justice for displaced families.

The State Cabinet approved the Green Energy Policy to gradually reduce the electricity burden on the state and its citizens. Proposals for nearly 3,200 MW of solar power capacity have been approved, which will bring in investments of around ₹5,500 crore and create 3,500 job opportunities.
