In a closely contested election in Telangana, BJP candidate C Anji Reddy emerged victorious from the Karimnagar-Nizamabad-Medak-Adilabad graduates’ constituency.
The counting process, which took a record three days, saw Anji Reddy edge out his nearest rival, Congress nominee V Narender Reddy, by a margin of about 5,000 votes. Anji Reddy secured 97,880 votes compared to Narender Reddy’s 92,880.
The BJP also celebrated another win as its candidate, Mulka Komaiarh, triumphed in the Karimnagar-Nizamabad-Medak-Adilabad teachers’ constituency. Komaiarh polled over 5,700 first preference votes more than his closest rival, Vanga Mahender Reddy of the PRTU (TS).
Meanwhile, PRTU candidate Sripal Reddy won the MLC seat from the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda teachers’ constituency, defeating sitting MLC Narsi Reddy by a margin of 3,000 votes. The contest saw 19 candidates, with the main contest being among Sripal Reddy (backed by PRTU), Narsi Reddy (supported by UTF), Gali Harshavardhan Reddy (backed by PRTU-TS), Puli Sarotham Reddy (BJP), and Pula Ravinder, a former MLC.
