It comes close on the heels of a similar announcement made by IT major HCL Technologies that it would set up a development centre in Visakhapatnam.

On Tuesday, he released a teaser regarding the announcement.
Visakhapatnam is expected to transform into a major IT hub of Andhra Pradesh, rivalling Hyderabad in neighbouring Telangana. Recently, Lulu Group, Brookfield, Oberoi and Suzlon Energy made announcements of investments in the port city.
After the TCS sets up its facility, Andhra Pradesh is expected to become a very hot destination for investments, an official press release said on Wednesday.
Moreover, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, during his recent visit to Delhi, had obtained consent from the Union government to speed up several mega projects for the state including Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) ₹60,000 crore petrochemical complex and a green hydrogen project in Visakhapatnam with an investment of ₹1 lakh crore.
It is going to be set up by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) in collaboration with Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGENCO).
The petrochemical project’s location is still being finalised. They are looking at four places in the state — Mulapadu (Srikakulam), Machilipaptnam (Krishna), Ramayapatnam and Krishnapatnam (both Nellore).
