The BJP, which is part of the TDP-led NDA government in the state has sought and secured one of three berths, for which it has decided to field the Backward Classes leader.
For the remaining two berths, the TDP is likely to field Beda Mastan Rao and Sana Satheesh. In the last Assembly elections, Satheesh expected a Jana Sena ticket for Kakinada, but the party fielded Uday Srinivas. Now he has got the opportunity to enter the Rajya Sabha as a member of Telugu Desam.
The Jana Sena officially did not get any berth. Jana Sena chief and deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan wanted to send his brother Naga Babu to Rajya Sabha, but the BJP knocked away one of the three seats.
