Synopsis: The Andhra Pradesh SIPB meeting approved investments worth ₹53,922 crore across 30 projects, which are expected to create employment for 83,437 youngsters. The 10th Andhra Pradesh State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) meeting, chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday, 28 August, approved investments worth ₹53,922 crore across 30 projects. These projects are expected to create employment for 83,437 youngsters.

Speaking at the meeting, the chief minister said he would monitor the progress of projects on a monthly basis and directed ministers to oversee their implementation at the field level personally.

“Officials should focus on promoting the speed of doing business policy being adopted in the state,” he said. He added that efforts were underway to bring the Mahindra Electric Vehicle plant to Andhra Pradesh and urged officials to work with the same spirit.

Points out the need for industrial development

Naidu pointed out that Andhra Pradesh had strong potential to develop the food processing industry. He asked officials to engage with food processing companies to set up units across the state. He also highlighted the growth of horticulture in Chittoor and Rayalaseema, noting that mango processing companies in the Chittoor district were already benefiting farmers significantly.

The chief minister stressed the need to build an ecosystem for developing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) parks as business hubs. He proposed setting up MSME parks in every Assembly constituency and suggested linking them with Ratan Tata Innovation Hubs to improve product quality.

He emphasised that the state should give top priority to attracting investments in key sectors such as Information Technology, Tourism, Food Processing, Mining, and others.

Naidu also accused the previous government of damaging the sanctity of Tirumala by allotting land for a hotel beside the Tirumala hills. He said that immediately after coming to power, the NDA government identified an alternative site to protect devotees’ sentiments. “Now the YSRCP leaders are indulging in a mud-slinging campaign against the government,” he said.

Some of the major investments approved at the SIPB meeting include:

HFCL: ₹1,197 crore at Madakasira, providing jobs to 870 people.
Apollo Tyres: ₹1,110 crore in Chittoor district, providing jobs to 500 people.
Dhirubhai Ambani Green Tech Park: ₹1,843 crore at Krishnapatnam, creating employment for 19,000 people.
Serentika Renewables of India: ₹2,000 crore in Anantapur, providing jobs to 320 people.
