Andhra Pradesh government set to roll out Annadata Sukheebhava scheme in August to help farmers in their kahriff operations
Synopsis: The Andhra Pradesh government is set to launch financial aid under its flagship Annadata Sukheebhava scheme, aimed at bolstering farm operations statewide. The rollout will coincide with the Centre’s 20th PM-KISAN instalment on August 2. Each eligible farmer family will receive ₹20,000 annually, disbursed in three tranches—mirroring the central scheme’s payment structure
The Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up to disburse financial assistance to farmers under the Annadata Sukheebhava scheme, one of its flagship promises, to support agricultural operations across the state.
The assistance will be released in tandem with the Centre’s 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, expected on 2 August.
According to official sources, under Annadata Sukheebhavae, the state government has announced that it will provide an annual assistance of ₹20,000 to each eligible farmer family, disbursed in three instalments—mirroring the central government’s PM-KISAN model of three tranches per year. Under PM-KISAN, the Centre provides ₹6,000 per year (₹2,000 every four months) to eligible land-owning farmers.
In the upcoming instalment, the Centre is expected to transfer ₹2,000 to eligible farmer accounts for the April–July period. The Andhra Pradesh government will top it up with an additional ₹5,000, making a total payout of ₹7,000 per family. This amount will be directly credited to the bank accounts of 41.58 lakh farmers.
The sources said that while PM-KISAN excludes tenant farmers, the Andhra Pradesh government has addressed this gap by committing to pay ₹20,000 annually to tenant farmers from the state’s own funds. This amount will be disbursed in two equal instalments, with the first payment scheduled for October. This provision ensures that tenant farmers, often excluded from central schemes, are not left behind in accessing financial aid for cultivation.
The government has already finalised the list of beneficiaries under the Annadata Sukheebhava scheme, which includes a total of 46.64 lakh farmers, encompassing both land-owning and tenant farmers. Their details were verified at the village level through the Annadata Sukheebhava portal.
Sources said that to ensure a smooth and error-free transfer of funds, all beneficiary bank accounts have undergone e-KYC verification. Officials report that about 80 percent of this verification process has already been completed, with final checks and enrollments ongoing at Rythu Seva Kendras (farmer service centers).
The state government has allocated ₹6,300 crore for the Annadata Sukheebhava scheme in the 2025–26 Budget, to honour its poll-eve commitment to farmers. The scheme is one of the “Super Six” promises made by the ruling administration, aimed at strengthening rural economy and enhancing farmer welfare.
Though it would be very hard for the state government to spare funds for Annadata Sukheebhava in view of legacy debt pile, there is no alternative left as it is one of super six promises made to the farmers ahead of the Assembly elections last year. With the kharif season being underway, the farmer are waiting or the release of funds in time so that they could purchase inputs like seeds, fertilisers, pesticides and farm equipment.
