Andhra Pradesh releases Rs 1,200 crore for fee reimbursement, scholarships

All allocations are meant for Post-Matric Scholarships (Reimbursement of Tuition Fee - RTF) for the academic year 2024–25.

Synopsis: Andhra Pradesh government has released nearly ₹1,200 crore for fee reimbursement and scholarships, benefiting lakhs of students across the State. Cleared through Budget Release Orders, the funds cover BC, EWS, and Minorities Welfare departments for 2024–25. IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh affirmed the government’s commitment to clearing dues and ensuring uninterrupted education support.

The Andhra Pradesh government released ₹1,200 crore towards fee reimbursement and scholarship payments, providing much-needed financial relief to lakhs of students across the State. The funds were cleared by the Finance Department through budget release orders (BROs), formally authorising the disbursal of allocated amounts.

Announcing the development, IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh said the government was committed to ensuring that no student faces disruption in their education due to financial constraints.

“I’m happy to inform that ₹1,200 crore is released, towards Fee Reimbursement & Scholarships through the latest BROs, providing immediate support to lakhs of students across Andhra Pradesh,” he said in a message on X.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, Lokesh added that clearing all pending dues and ensuring timely assistance going forward remains a priority.

“For every student and parent: no one will face hurdles in education. Study with confidence — your government stands with you,” he said.

The funds have been released towards Post-Matric Scholarships (RTF) for the academic year 2024–25, covering Backwards Classes (BC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and Minorities Welfare departments.

The Finance Department issued separate Government Orders clearing both regular budget allocations and additional funds in relaxation of the quarterly regulation to ensure the timely disbursal of scholarships.

Total allocations:

Backward Classes welfare
₹258.23 crore (regular budget release)
₹477.77 crore (additional funds)
Total: ₹736.00 crore

Economically Weaker Sections
₹365.07 crore

Minorities welfare
₹98.92 crore

Taken together, the total funds released amount to ₹1,199.99 crore (approximately ₹1,200 crore).

BC welfare: Category-wise break-up

The BC Welfare component, which received the largest share, covers multiple BC corporations. The allocation break-up is as follows:
Under Regular Release – ₹258.23 crore

BC-A Corporations: ₹151.88 crore
BC-B Corporations: ₹20.04 crore
BC-C Corporations: ₹86.09 crore
BC-E Corporations: ₹0.22 crore

Under Additional Funds – ₹477.77 crore
BC-A Corporations: ₹49.56 crore
BC-B Corporations: ₹213.26 crore
BC-D Corporations: ₹214.96 crore

Total BC allocation by category

Combining both releases:
BC-A: ₹201.44 crore
BC-B: ₹233.30 crore
BC-C: ₹86.09 crore
BC-D: ₹214.96 crore
BC-E: ₹0.22 crore

This brings the cumulative BC Welfare allocation to ₹736 crore.

EWS welfare: Category-wise break-up (₹365.07 crore)

The EWS Welfare Secretariat funds were distributed among upper-caste welfare corporations, including:

Kapu Welfare Corporation: ₹170.00 crore
EBC Welfare & Development Corporation: ₹56.55 crore
Reddy Welfare & Development Corporation: ₹55.73 crore
Kamma Welfare & Development Corporation: ₹42.76 crore
Arya Vyshya Welfare Corporation: ₹25.65 crore
Brahmin Welfare Corporation: ₹9.20 crore
Kshatriya Welfare Corporation: ₹5.18 crore

Minorities Welfare (₹98.92 crore)
Under the Minorities Welfare Department:
Andhra Pradesh State Minorities Finance Corporation: ₹92.90 crore
Andhra Pradesh State Christian Finance Corporation: ₹6.02 crore

Purpose of release

All allocations are meant for Post-Matric Scholarships (Reimbursement of Tuition Fee – RTF) for the academic year 2024–25.
