The TDP-led NDA government on Thursday, 10 July, organsied the second edition of Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) 2.0, across 61,135 educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh.

The event witnessed the participation of over 2.28 crore people, comprising 74.96 lakh students, 3.32 lakh teachers, and 1.49 crore parents and donors. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Education Minister Nara Lokesh spearheaded the effort by engaging directly with students, teachers, and parents at the ZP High School in Kotha Cheruvu in Satya Sai district.

Naidu seamlessly blended into the academic setting, visiting Class 8 and Class 10 classrooms in the school. Accompanied by Lokesh — who trailed him with the demeanor of an earnest student — the chief minister reviewed students’ progress cards and interacted with teachers and parents. The atmosphere was informal, with Naidu sitting with the students and offering motivational advice.

In one instance, he spoke with a student’s mother, Fatima, and the class teacher before turning to the students to ask about their aspirations. When one student expressed a desire to become a software engineer, Naidu encouraged him, saying, “That’s a good decision, but you must work hard.” In another digital classroom, on hearing a student’s ambition to become an IAS officer, Naidu smiled and said, “That’s an excellent goal.”

Interactive sessions

Naidu and Lokesh personally handed over these cards, engaging in detailed conversations with parents and students. The chief minister offered guidance on academic improvement and emphasized regular attendance and goal-setting.

These interactive sessions also allowed parents to provide feedback on school infrastructure and teaching quality.

Lokesh, who attentively listened to Naidu’s social science session as a student, played a crucial role in organising the event. He underscored the importance of inclusive stakeholder participation as the cornerstone of educational transformation, aiming to establish Andhra Pradesh’s education model as a national exemplar.

Lokesh also reiterated his commitment to depoliticising the education system. During the event, he held conversations with parents and students, encouraging active community involvement in shaping the education system.
