The sea phase of MILAN 2024, a biennale multi-national naval exercise hosted by the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) of the Indian Navy kicked off in a display of cooperation among the vessels and aircraft of friendly foreign nations, an official release on Sunday, 25 February, said.
The sea phase, which is a high-intensity segment of the event which encompasses air, surface, and undersea domains commenced yesterday and showcased naval prowess.
“Day two of the sea phase witnessed a harmonious blend of mutual understanding and interoperability as participating ships operated collaboratively in the Bay of Bengal,” said the ENC.
The multi-national nature of operations promotes camaraderie and deepens understanding of operational philosophies and procedures.
Advanced exercises in the sea phase cover all three dimensions of maritime warfare.
Sea phase activities include weapons firing, anti-submarine warfare, cross-deck landings, and carrier operations.
The MILAN 2024 sea phase signifies the commitment of participating nations to promoting peace, stability, and interoperability in the maritime domain.
The sea phase involves 15 ships and one aircraft from friendly foreign countries, along with Indian Naval ships, submarines, and aircraft.
Indian aircraft carriers Vikramaditya and Vikrant are also participating in the naval exercises.
MILAN-2024 aims to conduct complex and advanced exercises to consolidate interoperability and enhance mutual understanding for operating as a combined task force at sea.
