Andhra Pradesh ex-minister Vatti Vasant Kumar passes away

Former Andhra Pradesh minister Vatti Vasanth Kumar passed away on Sunday, 29 January, following a brief illness. He was 70.

The former Congress leader breathed his last at a private hospital in Visakhapatnam.

Vasnath Kumar won on a Congress ticket from the Ungutur constituency in the West Godavari district in the 2004 and 2009 polls.

He served in the Cabinets of YS Rajasekhara Reddy, K Rosaiah, and N Kiran Kumar Reddy. He held the rural development and tourism portfolios.

After the state’s bifurcation, he kept a low profile in politics from 2014 and settled in Visakhapatnam.

He quit the party in 2018 after the Congress joined hands with the TDP in Telangana.

Vasanth Kumar’s body will be shifted to his native village Pulla, where the last rites will be performed.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed grief over the demise of Vatti Vasanth Kumar and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members.

While expressing deep condolences upon the sudden demise of Vatti Vasanth Kumar, APCC president Gidugu Rudraraju said the void created by his passing could never be filled.

“We pray to the Almighty to give strength to the family and all loved ones,” Rudraraju said.

In a condolence message, Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan expressed profound grief over the demise of Vasanth Kumar.

The Governor offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.

Former Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president NV Raghuveera Reddy and Jana Sena Party leader Nadendla Manohar also condoled the death of Vasanth Kumar.
