In a major leap toward road infrastructure modernisation, Andhra Pradesh is set to launch a pilot project featuring cutting-edge Danish Asphalt Reinforcing Fibre Technology. The initiative, under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, marks a significant shift in road-building standards, moving away from pothole-ridden streets toward long-lasting, high-performance roads.
The pilot will be implemented in Banaganapalle constituency, Nandyal district, on the Sanjamala road stretch. This marks the first time such technology is being used in the state. Already proven successful in global infrastructure hubs such as Heathrow Airport in the UK and the Dubai Motorway, this fibre technology strengthens asphalt roads, increases their durability by up to 50%, and significantly reduces maintenance costs.
Designed to withstand heavy vehicular loads, the technology minimises pressure concentration on road surfaces, reducing wear and tear. By preventing cracking and potholes, it also helps ease traffic issues and enhances commuter safety.
With this pilot project, Andhra Pradesh aims to set new benchmarks in quality and longevity for road infrastructure. If successful, this model could pave the way for broader adoption across the state.
