12 Jan, Swami Vivekanand birth anniversary: AP govt jobs release date
The Andhra Pradesh government will release notifications for filling vacancies through its recruitment arm —the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) — on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, 12 January.
The government will also include the dates for the examinations for filling of jobs notified through 20 notifications released earlier during the tenure of the government of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party.
Vacancies for 866 jobs in 18 departments of the state government are set to be notified. The National Democratic Alliance government, in the run up to the Assembly elections, had promised to fill the vacancies soon after assuming power.
The government intends to apply reservations in job recruitment after sub-categorisation of Scheduled Castes.
The following vacancies are to be filled:
Information about the recruitment of junior assistants and typists in the prisons department will also be announced on the same day.
Recruitment of warden and junior assistants in the Divyang Welfare Department will also be undertaken.
As regards the Group-1 notification, released during the tenure of the previous government in 2023, the main examination will be conducted in June 2025.
The Group II examination will be held on 23 February, 2025.
Examinations for filling the vacancies of lecturers in the polytechnic, junior, and degree colleges are planned for June 2025.
All these examinations are scheduled to be held between March and June 2025.
However, no decision has yet been taken on the conduct of the Mega District Selection Committee, one of the major promises made by the coalition parties before the elections.
Swami Vivekananda, on whose birth anniversary the details of these job vacancies will be released, was born in Kolkata (then Calcutta) on 12 January, 1863. He died aged 39, after founding the Ramakrishna Mission to take to the world the message of his spiritual guru, Ramakrishna Paramhansa.
In 1893, Swami Vivekananda travelled to the US to address the Parliament of Religions in Chicago, where his speech about the essential unity of spiritual paths and the need to give up fanaticism made a huge impact.
