Multiple probe teams formed

Police have formed multiple teams to arrest the assailants, who fled the scene after committing the crime.

“We are examining all possible angles, including personal enmity,” the police said, adding that no motive has been conclusively established.

However, investigators were suspecting a prior dispute or old feud as the possible reasons for the killing, though other angles, including professional links, were also being probed. Police were also checking whether Reddy’s reports had enraged the gang.

Journalists’ associations and rights groups strongly condemned the murder, which they termed an attack on press freedom and demanded swift justice. Calls have been made for a thorough investigation and stringent action against those responsible.

Chittoor is the home district of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
