A subcommittee of the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet will visit Karnataka to study the Shakti Scheme, which offers free travel for women on state-run, non-premium buses.
The delegation will also meet with Karnataka’s Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Friday, 3 January, to fine-tune Andhra Pradesh’s planned scheme to provide free travel for women.
A Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu constituted the sub-committee to Shakti Scheme, launched as part of the Congress’s five guarantees made before the Karnataka Assembly polls.
The meeting also cleared development works worth ₹2,733 crore in the Amaravati capital region. It approved two key projects cleared in the 44th meeting of the Capital Region Development Authority held recently.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved an ordinance to amend the municipal law. This amendment would empower muncipalties to issue permits for building constructions and layouts.
The Cabinet also reviewed the progress achieved during the coalition government’s first six months, besides discussing development activities planned for the year.
