DMK election campaign in Tamil Nadu

The ruling DMK will celebrate the spectacular victory by the alliance in the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu at Coimbatore on 14 June, the party said on Saturday, 8 June.

The DMK and its allies won 40 Lok Sabha seats (39 in Tamil Nadu and the lone Puducherry seat) in the recently concluded Parliamentary polls.

The celebrations will coincide with the valedictory of the centenary of late DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi. Also, Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin would be felicitated for leading the DMK combine to a resounding win, the ruling party said.

“The Mupperum vizha (triple celebrations) will be organised in a grand manner in Coimbatore on 14 June to celebrate the valedictory of the centenary of late Kalaignar (Karunanidhi), to thank the people for ensuring 40 (MP) seats and to felicitate Chief Minister Stalin for piloting the awesome victory in the Lok Sabha elections,” a resolution passed at a meeting of DMK Members of Parliament, said.

The meeting, chaired by Stalin, passed five resolutions including seeking abolishing the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and raising several crucial issues to uphold the state’s rights such as projects for Tamil Nadu, and financial autonomy.
