Actor Hema

The NDPS Special Court, on Thursday, 13 June, granted actor Hema, conditional bail in the Bengaluru rave party case, for allegedly consuming drugs.

The actor was arrested on 3 June, in Bengaluru, when she turned up for an investigation into the rave party case — a birthday party organised in a farmhouse in Electronic City — where over 85 people, including the Telugu actor, had tested positive for narcotics.

She was subsequently produced before the court and sent to 14 days of judicial custody.

While granting the bail, the court directed Hema to cooperate with the investigation.

According to the sources, Hema was arrested for not just consuming banned narcotic substances. “There are allegations that she was one of the organisers as well,” added the sources.

“She tried to mislead the cops by posting a video claiming that she was at her farm house in Hyderabad,” they claimed.

‘Did I commit a murder?’

While the CCB was taking her to the JMFC Court in Anekal, on 5 June, Hema appeared dismayed over her arrest in connection with the case.

“They made me run and took me somewhere in the midnight. Did I commit a murder?” Hema told reporters in Anekal.

“What did I do? Why did you take me away in such a hurry? All these people took me to a forest and made me sign something,” she said.

However, the actress did not disclose any other details or say anything more to substantiate her accusations.

The rave party

The event conducted between 5 pm (18 May) and 6 am (19 May) was said to be a birthday party organised by a Hyderabad-based individual named Vasu.

The party was estimated to cost ₹50 lakh a day, sources said. Vasu and a few others were arrested in the week following the raid.

During the investigation, police officials confirmed the presence of a vehicle with the MLA pass of Andhra Pradesh Minister K Govardhan Reddy and said that neither the minister nor his men were present at the party.

Additionally, more than 15 luxury cars were also parked on the premises.
