Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s Shaakuntalam, directed by Gunasekhar, will hit the big screens worldwide on 17 February.

Shaakuntalam is based on renowned poet-playwright Kalidasa’s play “Abhijnana Shakuntalam”, written in the 4th Century CE.

The play narrates the epic love story between Shakuntala — daughter of sage Viswamitra and apsara Menaka — and Dushyant, King of Hastinapura.

While Samantha will play Shakuntala, Sufiyim Sujayatu-fame Dev Mohan will essay the role of Dushyant in this movie.

Neelima Guna is producing it under the banner of Gunaa Teamworks. Dil Raju is presenting it through Sri Venkateswara Creations banner.
