‘Modi no Entry’ bannners pop up in Hyderabad ahead of PM visit, demand rollback of GST on handloom

Banners saying “Modi no Entry to Telangana” have popped up at several places in Hyderabad ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Telangana.

Taking to Twitter, TRS spokesperson Kishank Manne termed it the weavers’ message to the prime minister.

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on 11 and 12 November to launch a slew of developmental projects in the two Telugu states.

The Union government had recently imposed a five percent Goods and Services Tax (GST) on handloom products, a first in the country.

The banner, raised by the Telangana Chenetha Youth Force, demanded the government to withdraw the GST.

Various weavers-centric welfare schemes had also been abolished along with this increase in price of yarn.
