Karnataka government declares ‘Daredevil Musthafa’ tax-free

Days after the makers of the Kannada film Daredevil Musthafa urged Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to grant tax exemption, their request was approved.

“We planned to invite Chief Minister Siddaramaiah sir to watch our movie Daredevil Musthafa. We also urged the government to make our film tax-free.” director Shashank Soghal told South First.

They shared that Daredevil Musthafa already completed four weeks in theatres and this will help the film reach new audiences in the State.

“Siddaramaiah sir said it was his close associates who watched Daredevil Musthafa that made him aware of the film,” the makers said.

After Lucia (2013), Daredevil Musthafa is the second major film in Kannada which has been bankrolled through a crowd-funding model.

With more than 75 members, mostly admirers of writer Poornachandra Tejwasi joining hands helped produce this venture. Daali Dhananjay later joined hands with the production also.

The film which is based on a short story penned by Tejaswi in the same title from the compilation of short stories, Abachoorina Post Office, revolves around a bunch of PUC students.
