Gowli review: A good first half that falls flat in the latter half

Gowli hit the screens on 24 February. It marks the return of Sanju Weds Geetha-fame Srinagara Kitty as a solo hero after six years.

The subject revolves around the Gowli tribal community. Director Soora, who hails from the same region, claims to have picked up a true incident.

The film is about a happy family whose happiness is short-lived when evil enters their life and everything goes haywire.

His honest portrayal of the central character, also named Gowli, is one of the few aspects which lifts the experience of the film from below-average to average.

The first half is where the good things are packed beautifully. It celebrates father-daughter and husband-wife relationships with a couple of good songs.

However, all of it starts to deteriorate when Gowli’s family faces an imminent threat posed by a corrupt police officer (Sharath Lohitashwa).

Once the action kickstarts, it continues till the end. This is the phase that tests patience, wishing for the movie to hit the climax on the double.
