Eeswar (2002), a romantic-action drama starring Prabhas and Sridevi Vijaykumar in the lead roles, had him playing the role Eeswar of a gudumba seller’s son living in Dhoolpet.
Though Eeswar had a routine mix of commercial elements, this poor-boy-rich-girl love story with Prabhas’ fight-for-underdog tone caught up well with the audiences.
Directed by Suresh Krishna and written by Posani Krishna Murali, Raghavendra (2003) starred Anshu and Shweta Agarwal as the female leads. It featured the Prabhas in two shades.
Directed by SS Rajamouli, Chatrapathi (2005) catapulted Prabhas from an actor to a star of Telugu cinema as audiences started comparing him with the other stars from the big league.
