The process of making an onscreen biopic for Tiger Nageswara Rao took director Vamsee two years. “I had more information than what I needed for the film to make,” says Vamsee.
Ravi Teja’s upcoming film Tiger Nageswara Rao features the actor in the titular role of Nageswara Rao, who earned notoriety for his escapades and robberies during the 70s.
“As many biopics are being made about sportspersons and celebrities, I thought of telling a story which is unheard of and untold. Some historians do know about Nageswara Rao.”
Nageswara Rao was from a small community in Krishna district. He was a bandit as we know. But we aren’t sure what his nature, the struggles he faced, and why he took to burglary.”
“As there were no news articles about him, I met former police officials and read related documents. All his contemporaries have either passed away or are reluctant to speak.”
The director decided that if he was making the film, he should make the audience believe it. “That’s why I mentioned ‘true rumours’. You can assume it is a kattu katha (fictitious tale).”
“You can’t imagine an actor being so physically strong at the age of 55. All the fight scenes in the movie were all perfectly nailed by Ravi Teja garu,” he signed off.
