There is a new political player in Tamil Nadu. Taking the plunge, finally, from the silver screen to the world of politics, renowned Tamil star Vijay announced the name of his political party.
He added, “We won’t contest the 2024 general elections and won’t support any party. We have made this decision at the General and Executive Council Meeting.”
“I have decided to complete the film I have already committed to, without affecting the party work and completely involve myself in the politics of public service.”
“I consider this as my gratitude towards the people of Tamil Nadu,” Vijay said. He is currently working on a film titled GOAT under the direction of Venkat Prabhu.
In June 2023, Vijay speaking at a school in Chennai, urged the students to ask their parents to vote in elections without accepting bribes and see the transformation for themselves.
Vijay also urged students to not stop acquiring knowledge and to go beyond and learn about all leaders including BR Ambedkar, EVR Periyar, and K Kamaraj and imbue their good aspects.
His fans association,Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, which changed into a welfare organisation, contested the 2021 civic polls in the state and won 115 seats out of 169.
