A special library session aimed at fostering creativity, imagination, and storytelling skills among students in North Karnataka, was organised by Kalike, with support from Tata Trusts.

This project engaged nearly 11,000 students from over 100 schools between last year and this year’s cycle.

The initiative aimed to equip children to explore, collect, create, and share stories related to the traditions and heritage of the region.

Diverse community members like farmers, folk artists, storytellers, lawyers, and police officers conducted interactive sessions.

The project resulted in the creation of around 800 storybooks and compiled over 2,000 poems. 26 of these storybooks are now available in soft copy.

Inauguration of the library session involved various community stakeholders and members of the school staff along with students.

It focused on inculcating the art of storytelling among the students. Students were encouraged to listen to stories from their grandparents and parents.

Children collaborated in groups, drawing, writing, and sharing ideas, demonstrating a hands-on approach to learning.
