NIRF Ranking 2023: IIT Madras, IISc Bengaluru among 36 institutions from South India in top 100

IIT Madras was adjudged the best educational institution under the overall category in the eighth edition of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings 2023.

This was the fifth year in a row the Chennai-based institute earned that laurel. It also retained the top position as the best engineering institute for the eighth consecutive year.

From Karnataka, as many as seven educational institutes — including NIT Surathkal and the Mysore University — are in the top 100 in the overall category.

While NIT Calicut and Kerala University made it from Kerala, IIT Hyderabad, Osmania University, and NIT Warangal were included from Telangana.

Two institutes from Andhra Pradesh found a spot in the top 100, while the Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) was included from Puducherry.

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bengaluru and NALSAR University of Law in Hyderabad were adjudged first and third among the top law institutions in the country.
