Kannada actor Ashika Ranganath always loved the grandeur, flamboyance, the song and dance of Telugu films.

After six years of her career in Kannada films, she is the heroine of a big-budget Telugu thriller starring Nandarmuri Kalyan Ram; Amigos.

In a freewheeling chat with South First, the actor talks about her dream debut in Telugu films. “I believe that my debut at this point is destined.”

The story of Amiogs excited her. “Audiences are smart; they want to watch stories that have a fresh concept and are executed differently.”

She says her co-star Kalyan Ram is amazing. “The film took a toll on his mental health; it isn’t easy doing such complicated characters.”

“It was good to be a part of such a project and I got to learn so much from everyone on the set. I was a newbie amidst seniors like Brahmaji, JP, and Kalyani.”

“The interesting part was mugging lengthy lines in Telugu. The challenging bit came during the shoot of the song “Enno Ratrulostayigani”

“I was put on a harness from certain feet and made to fly, for an aerial shot. The harness is usually used for fights in films and I didn’t have an idea about it.”

Hailing from a non-filmi family, she has “seen a lot of ups and downs. But, on the flip side, it taught me what scripts to choose and not to.”

“But I am happy with the decisions I made. If I look back at the films I have done so far and the love I received from the industry, I feel overwhelmed!”
