India is a chess superpower, but no Dronacharya award for coaches in 16 years

The last time a chess coach received the Dronacharya Award, Sourav Ganguly was still the captain of the Indian men’s cricket team.

Since 2006, 94 Dronacharya awards have been presented, but none have gone to chess.

Vishal Sareen, an international master, said that RB Ramesh and he should have been considered for the Dronacharya Award long ago.

Three chess players trained by Sareen have received the Arjuna Award: Tania Sachdev, Parimarjan Negi, and Abhijeet Gupta.
