“Most of us would believe the larger-than-life portrayed on screen, while it is all a myth. Most films were so fictional that the audience would thrive for it to happen in real life too.”

He further added, “Since it cannot happen, the audience would feel catharsis about it. We attempted to make a mass film (Toby) without leaving the content and the character.”

“All my characters are based on real-life experiences and close to realities. I draw my inspiration for the film based on what I encounter daily as a person.”

The filmmaker admits that when he started to make Ondu Motteya Kathe, he had little knowledge of filmmaking. “We knew nothing but we learnt everything from scratch.”

“It is the constant learning process and the we-don’t-know-it-all factor that helped us learn and master the art. My mantra is — ‘I do not know everything and I must learn them’.”

Apart from Toby, Raj B Shetty’s directorial film Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye is also expected to hit the screens in the coming months.
