Surya Prakash was mentally prepared for a stressful long haul when he approached the police to report the theft of his car on 10 October.

However, at the station, Prakash briefly reported the matter, and in 10 minutes he was heading back to the parking lot with two officers.

He received a call from the station three days after the complaint was lodged informing him that the car and the alleged culprit had been tracked down.

Prakash’s experience was not an aberration, South First has learnt.

When Sameer Ahmed’s Flipkart delivery bag went missing with its contents, police arrived in 30 minutes and promptly filed an FIR.

“It instilled confidence in my employer, who would otherwise have recovered the loss from me,” said Ahmed.

This change was inspired by Inspector LY Rajesh’s visit to a car showroom where he was asked for feedback on his experience.

He was aware that the feedback alone will not usher in the corporate professionalism.

To provide a streamlined experience to those visiting the station, the team drew up a set of guidelines for themselves.
