Veteran actor Kaikala Satyanarayana passed away at his residence in Film Nagar, Hyderabad, around 4 am on Friday, 23 December.

Satyanarayana was fascinated by theatre since his college days. In a career spanning more than six decades, he had acted in more than 750 movies.

He carved a niche space for himself by playing characters with multiple shades — villain, comedian, mythical, period, and character artist.

He earned popularity as a villain during the initial stage of his career. He later won the hearts of Telugu movie lovers as a character artist.

He acted in popular movies such as Srikrishnarjuna Yuddham, Lava Kusha, Chikkadu Dorakadu, and Adavi Ramudu.

Besides acting, Satyanarayana had also produced successful films, which include Kodamasimham, Bangaru Kutumbam, and Muddula Mogudu.

In 2017, he was honoured with the Filmfare Award for lifetime achievement in Telugu cinema.

Kaikala Satyanarayana was so popular that he was elected to Lok Sabha from the Machilipatnam constituency in 1996. He served as a TDP MP.
